I can also talk a bit about my own projects in Southeast Asia. I began working in Myanmar in 1997 and have continued to produce work there consistently. At present, I'm supporting young intellectuals who are developing independent research in educational and post-traumatic activities for young children and novice monks who were affected by the Nargis cyclone disaster in 2008 and the wave of state terror unleashed after the saffron uprising[protests led by monks] in 2007.
I'm waiting for the next round of funding to start a technology-based project that can be used to conduct educational activities and promote skills in information technology, with the intention of spreading knowledge that can be used to circumvent state control of communication systems in Myanmar. These activities are carried out under the concept of the Open Academy, which began in 2003 as an activity if NICA. It's a culture and art program with processes devoted to open learning and resource development.
